Reducing Mosquitoes In & Around Your Home

  1. Dispose of old tires, buckets, drums, bottles, plastic tarps, or any container that can hold water
  2. Make sure gutters are free of debris for proper drainage
  3. Fill in or drain puddles and ruts found in lawn
  4. Make sure drains and culverts are clear of trash for proper drainage
  5. Keep lids on trash bins to keep rain water out
  6. Empty plastic wading pools at least once a week and store it indoors when not in us
  7. Make sure your pool is properly taken care during off season or during vacation
  8. Fill in tree holes that hold water with sand
  9. Change the water in bird baths, plants pot or drip trays at least once a week
  10. Irrigate lawns and gardens carefully to avoid standing water
  11. Keep grass cut short and shrubbery well-trimmed to keep adult mosquitos from bedding there
  12. Stock your pond with top feeding minnows
  13. Make sure your window and door seals/screens are “bug tight”
  14. Wear light colored clothing, plus long sleeve shirts and pants for added protection
  15. Use repellants on clothing and exposed skin when outside
  16. Stay indoors during dawn, dusk, and early evening when mosquitos are the most active
