At Nature’s Turf, we are committed to continuing to invest in our team. This year we had the opportunity to bring on agronomist Jared Koenig. Our belief as a company is that we should always be creating opportunities for our team to grow. Jared will help us achieve this goal by bringing knowledge to our team members.
Part of Jared’s responsibility will be to meet with our team regularly to educate them on all aspects of turfgrass management. We want our technicians to not only be able to apply our premium products to our client’s lawns properly, but we also want to employ them with the knowledge to identify potential problems.
Since Jared is new to our team, we sat down and asked him a few questions so you could get to know him better. Please join us in welcoming Jared to our team!

Why did you pick turf care for a career?
As a first-semester freshman at Fayette County High School, I was placed in a Landscape Design class. Within a few weeks, I was hooked on urban agriculture. As a sophomore, I applied to the University of Georgia’s Young Scholars Program and placed with Dr. Clint Waltz of UGA Griffin. With him, I did research associated with turfgrass and realized quickly what I’d do professionally.
What is an agronomist, and how did you become one?
Google states that I’m “an expert in the science of soil management and crop production.” Practically, I’m a committed professional dedicated to continuously pursuing information for how to best grow turfgrass and ornamental plants in our climate.
My path to Agronomy was one of both education and experience, having earned a degree from the University of Georgia in Turfgrass and working in many arenas of turfgrass cultivation.
What is your experience?
In high school, I gained experience in sales and installation of turf and ornamental plants for a local landscape nursery, and spent two summers doing turf research as a UGA young scholar. While a turf student at Georgia, I worked for Athletics doing sports turf for baseball, soccer, softball, and football. Additionally, I spent eight years in golf, working all maintenance positions between crewman and superintendent.
How do you think you will impact the Nature’s Turf client?
My goal is to empower my colleagues and our clients with knowledge and information, optimizing the potential for our turfgrass.
What is the best part of your day since joining the company?
I enjoy the daily interaction with like-minded individuals who share the common goal of providing the best service and results for our clients.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching Georgia football, and playing guitar with my church and local acts.
